English Civil War
The Army stems principally from Cromwells New Model Army and the desire by Parliament not to allow the sovereign of the day to have a standing army.
I don't recall why he was allowed to keep the Navy - presumably to do with paying for it or maybe it only became officially constituted after the Restoration.
RAF obviously post-dates the Restoration.
