clearly the question of how we did it last time comes to mind. My answer would be that the spine of the team which got us up was:
Green
Malky & Flem
Holt & Francis
Hucks and Crouch

with precious little back-up - but we were unbelievably lucky with injuries

Now we have:
Green
2 of Doherty, Flem 2 years on, Shackell, 3 months of Davenport
Safri when available, Hughes or Jarrett
Ashton + ?

And the difference I think is pretty clear when you look at it like that. It's made worse by the fact that Green appears to have lost a lot of confidence, and that we are having our share of injuries now, as you should expect. But that spine last time was either settled partnerships (CB, CM) or quality (up front). This year we have neither of those.
