yes....

key words here are "AND in fear for yourself or others"... for example, if the bloke crepping up your stairs is brandishing a knife or gun, then a crack to the noggin would be fine.... if its a spotty yoof that is clearly unarmed and s**tting it himself, then it probably wouldnt be as you'd have to then justify in court that you wear in fear for yourself or others..... and that doesnt mean their ipads.
