Grimmy isn't supposed to appeal to us 'oldies'. You say he's 'lacking personality, humour and likeability'... and that's the point.

R1 are in dire need of shaking us off for good... like Matthew Bannister did with those that liked DLT etc 20 years ago. We're not supposed to like him or get him... or Fern Cotton... or Reggie Yates... R1 want our age group to bugger off somewhere else. Scott Mills was recently shunted off drivetime in favour of Greg James... Mills is another one who's too old now for R1 and will be off sooner rather than later.

However much we don't get it, the younger generation will like his personality and attributes I'm sure, but radio in general has a huge issue with attracting new young listeners in the multi-media platform era. Radio has to evolve and change if it is to survive amongst the internet iPod download generation.
