My best mate of 14-15 years went down the same route, he ended up owing me s**tloads of money and robbing my house!
I would have trusted him with my life until he robbed me of the two most important/sentimental things in my life. My late fathers watch and ring, which luckily I recovered from cash converters. It cost me 100 quid to get them back, but it didn't matter, I cut him out of my life there and then and it's been so much better.
