The board deserve a lot of credit for the last couple of years

and that's from someone who's been very critical of them

When Surman got injured, there was no closed door policy on helping Lambert. Similarly when Barnett was risked as a signing and then got injured, more funding was made available instead of "stick with what you've got"

Easiest last example, which turned out to be a great thing for the player, is Jackson's 5 months without a goal, which sparked funding for Pacheco, which then spurred Jackson into much welcomed immense form

Lambert unlike managers before, didn't have to focus their attention on one target, and apply all their energy and work into hoping they are the real deal. He's had some tremendous support which has been long overdue
