Hootball is a squad game. And every new acquisition is a gamble that might not come off, however shiny they are - why get rid of someone who you KNOW does a good job?
And even if said team did decide they could do without then an established Prem team would still surely be interested, and could offer more than us. If those teams aren't interested then in my view they probably consider said player to be not up to standard. The player would be at least as big a gamble as the ones we are buying, and probably at a greater price too.
I think in our situation we need too many new players to blow a large part on potential has-beens.
How many up-and-coming hungry young talents did we buy last time we got promoted. I'm struggling to think of any (except for Ashton in January - which only proves my point further), which played a huge part in the problems we subsequently suffered after relegation.
