But we can't have it both ways

Either football clubs are just like any other commercial business - in which case they can get bought by dodgy foreigners, asset stripped, go bust or simply be relocated to a more profitable part of the country, like MK Dons, so we end up with a load of franchises. Or else they are unique, woven into the fabric of the local community, embedded in our culture etc etc. In which case they DO get special treatment.

I am in favour of the latter approach.
