Right what you want to do is this.

Get a screwdriver and undo the front plate of your master phone socket (this will be one with a line across the middle). Take the front off and you should see in the bottom right another input which is the test socket. Plug your router direct into this and then test the speed. This will tell you if there is a problem on the line or if it’s an internal thing (you haven’t specified whether you’ve got extension leads, etc)
