i dont shoot things i'm not going to eat - unless they are pests such as foxes which i doubt would taste very nice anyway.

other than that everything that falls to a shotgun on our shoot is eaten/sold to the butchers to be eaten by someone else.

yes shooting a very high bird is immensely satisfying in the same way as scoring from the half way line would be as it is a tough shot, but shooting is not all about the killing! It about conservation of the countryside, social family gatherings, and getting outside into the fresh norfolk air for a good old jolly walk instead of sitting on your backside in some grotty house drinking cider and watching jeremy kyle. I would be more happy shooting one very high pheasant and making it into a curry than if i shot 50 low flying pheasants that were easy to hit and would be too much for me to eat.
