I can see one use for a netbook in business, and that's basically all. Back in the late 90's I had one of the first Sony Vaio laptops. It was tiny, especially for the time - 1 inch thick, with the floppy (yes we used them then) and CD drives separate external units, and the battery sat on the back.

The tech specs were as good as other laptops at the time - I think it was a P3 333MHz with 512mb RAM or something.

Anyway, I loved it because in those days, when internet bandwidth wasn't anything like now, we actually had to physically travel a lot for work. With the laptop I had to check in a bag for a 3 or 4 day stay and take the laptop in the cabin. With the Vaio I could just chuck it in the same bag and avoid having to check any baggage in so it was far less hassle at the airports.

That's the only reason I can really think of for a netbook. It's certainly not a desktop replacement as are the laptops I own these days.
