Salary - advice needed
I earn ?X at a (fairly smally) company doing a job.
A (very big) company has noticed me and is talking about creating a position for me to come and work for them doing something like my current job, only with a different scope and context.
They've told me they're going to put an offer together and have asked my current salary/package which I have provided (some advise against but having hired several people myself I always find it irritating when people refuse).
Other than ?9, or even ?8,000, does anyone have any experience on how much I should expect as a ballpark when they make their formal offer? On my side, I am fairly unique in what I do - not many people have the fit in terms of background and industry knowledge. However if I am too aggressive they could decide not to offer me anything and I do quite fancy the move.
Of course there are no hard and fast rules. But if anyone here works in HR or knows this stuff I'd be pathetically grateful for any guidance (other than "find selwyn and tell him to f**k off").
