re MP.....

If you can, stay local to MP in Aguas Calientes, get the first bus up the hill in the morning and hire a guide just for you. It will a)be worth every penny and b) mean you get to see most of MP before the train arrives from Cusco ( aabout 10 am from memory). The morning we were there the train disgorged laods of Americans dressed in bright blue/yellow/red Disney pac-a-macs. It really, really f***s up the atmosphere having these gaudy clad muppets clambering around you. As for Nasca lines, pay to go up in the small planes and see them from 3000 feet. It WILL give you goosebumps.

And if you get to Cusco, the best breakfast is in Cafe America, opposite side of the square to the Cathedral. Its run as a charity to help local kids. And it is very good.

Just talking about it makes me want to go back. Have fun.
