Parachute payments - complete mystery to me

I have no idea about the finances of the club - maybe our debts are more severe than any of us realise. I mean we are led to beleive we recieve something like ?20 M from being in the Premiership. And then you get hefty parachute payments when you get relegated. Well this money has not been made available for signings. Worthy has only been able to spend what he has raised from transfers. Maybe the Ashton signing blew a lot of our transfer kitty away for this season. Why this is the case - I just don't know. But the fact remains, the money is clearly not there to spend. Either that or we are relying heavily on Ashton, Huckerby and Leon to fire us back up - sadly without realising you need a midfield to provide the ball in the right places for that strategy to work. And maybe it was believed the defence would be good enough for this level - Flem did win POTS two years ago at this level, and surely Doc can play at this level.... End of October - that's what I'm giving worthy...
