To simplify that to agree somewhat. If you went to York races

and a horse was 14/1, and in the members ring, someone put ?1000 on it. It would move from 14/1 to 12/1 over that punt alone

So in betting shops up and down the country, there's people saying to each other, "oh, look, there's been a bit of money on that 14/1 shot, I wonder if some info has come through that it's going to get placed"

The grand bet could just be the rich owner of said horse who puts that on every time it runs
