Playoff stats

Only 2 of the last 12 winners have finished outside the top 4, none of the last 6 and 6th place has only won one of the last 20.

So seeing as the new format gives more advantage to 3rd and 4th, are the complaints about fairness or do people simply just love to moan about change?
