Is it as simple as this?

Our style of play under Farke is brilliant at beating teams that we are better than. Our technical ability is extraordinary for a Championship team and the majority of sides in the championship can't live with that or bridge the gap simply via intensity. Much the same as lower prem sides can't bridge the gap to the top of the table sides simply by working harder and being more intense.

Take away our advantage, or a significant proportion of it, from a technical perspective though when we step up to the EPL, and we become too easy to play against as we are not intense enough.

As a consequence, the other sides that come up, although not as good at beating Championship sides over a season, they rely on intensity to a larger extent than we do as they are not as good from a technical perspective, and this translates better to the EPL where all teams are technically good.

Hence why we are outperformed by teams that we do better than in the championship.

Is this a massive statement of the obvious? Probably is.

If what I'm saying is right, the time to change style was last season, not this season. It's already too late to make a meaningful difference.
