Let me clarify. When I mean cheap European labour I don't mean they get paid less and take British jobs.
I mean it's cheaper to hire them as you can pay the same amount to a European worker and they work harder and are more productive. So in the long term it is cheaper to high Europeans because they are a better labour force than British labour.
I did read the paper and it ties up with what I am saying. Europeans work harder, they are more productive, put more into the economy then they take out. Create more demand for services and in turn can increase wages of all workers in certain areas.
My point was there has been abject failure in businesses to invest in staff and training from within.
And therefore for many people in the country that are British born and educated in British schools there is anger that jobs they expected to be there when they left are not there. And/or their European counterpart is better.
If you end freedom of movement and reduce opportunities for Europeans in this country the onus is on the businesses and government to invest in the youth, provide apprenticeships and training to plug the labour shortfall.
