"Once they saw through his complete lack of tactical ability"

Pray tell, who were we supposed to finish above in 2015/16? We were out of our depth. And clubs all around us were spending plenty in different ways.

One of the problems, I think, is like most football fans, you're always so emotional about things. This leads you to become disproportionately angry very very quickly; so this manager's a 'chancer' or that board decision is a 'disgrace' or that squad 'saw through' the manager or whatever. It also leads you to wildly over-simplify all the time and act like running Norwich City or managing Norwich City is easy. It isn't.

The 2014/15 squad was built for promotion. It was a short-term fix. Even then, it only finished 3rd. Short-term fixes deliver nothing longer term - so down we came, and naturally, that by now horribly expensive squad was 18 months to 2 years past its best. It needed ripping up - so we ripped it up. It's just we did so several months too late.

And since ripping it up, we've consciously put ourselves back at square one. Nothing could've been expected last season - yet you still did. This season, I'm looking for progress, that's all... but I always knew the first half of this campaign, without Maddison, would be tough, very tough. If Farke comes through it, then we can start building. If he doesn't, we're back at square one again - but with a model which means we can only hire a certain kind of manager.

I'm not at all happy with how we've started. But expecting top 6 in his second year is ridiculous, and judging him after 3 games is also ridiculous. Barring us falling into real relegation danger, when is the time to judge Daniel Farke? After three full years. That's what the kind of enormous change we've made calls for.
