It didn’t really need ripping up though and we didn’t need to consciously put ourselves

Back at square one.

For about three years all we needed was a couple of decent defenders and maybe one more striker in the prem.

Even last season our squad at the outset had Maddison, Pritchard, Hoolahan, Jerome and Murphy in it plus a guy who’d just played for Portugal in the summer up front and was on top form. Most managers in the championship would bite your arm off for those attacking options. We managed to turn it into a problem.

I am not over emotional but I get frustrated by waste and undeperformance. It’s because I think we have good players (still do) that I set them and the managers high standards.

Neil was a good talker and what we needed to come in at the time (should have won that league with the squad we had) but he had zero tactical ability, rarely or never made a sub that changed anything g positively and was out of his depth in the transfer market hence we ended up signing all these duds on high wages who probably have the same agent as him or at least links to his cronies somehow.
