‘They’

I’m afraid my problem is with the use of ‘they’ where you bracket a group of individuals together by a characteristic other than their humanity, and extrapolate to all that share that characteristic. There are plenty of ways to interview/research the background of players to see if they are any good, and a fit for your club based on criteria without having a blanket ban on a group because of one shared characteristic. It’s not about being PC, it’s about treating people as you’d probably like to be treated yourself.... It’s just lazy, such laziness is the route of casual racism & sexism.
