(And your point seems to be something like:

"It's OK that one of the candidate wants to behave like a fascist dictator, because checks and balances in the system will stop him actually managing to."

Whereas the point is - how has one of the 2 main parties ends up with someone who wants to be that dictator? And makes no secret of it? And how come the system rolls on as if it's no big deal?
