This week: "Shine definitely coming off the manager for me"... "He's lost his way lately, no ambition..." The usual fickle bullshine, in other words.
Newsflash. In Premier League terms, this is a poor quality squad which if it opened up more, would get hammered more. And poor quality squads have days where they play really badly: Southampton, Newcastle, or today. It happens, and will happen again at least twice more this season. Our players are at Norwich because they're not consistent enough to be at bigger clubs.
I keep going back to this point, but I'm going to mention it again. Chris Hughton did not go so defensive with us because he was an idiot. He did it because he recognised our limitations. Alex Neil has too - but oh look, the "we want to play the Norwich way" fans are starting to turn.
We have to scrape, scramble, grind and battle our way to 17th place. Then we make additions; then we scrape, scramble, grind and battle again; then we build again. That's how most other clubs have done it. What makes us so different in some fans' eyes, God knows.
Watford's way? Watford's way is to change their manager every year and turn their whole squad over practically every year as well. Fair play to them, it's worked; it's not sustainable though. I'd rather be us: but as long as we don't have super-rich owners, it will always be hard, and overall, we're actually doing about as well as could be hoped for.
Just gotta make sure we keep going, don't get depressed, and the matches against the sides around us will decide things.
