low appeals in fewer than 5% of cases that come before them? If the evidential standard is just "it's possible there was a miscarriage of justice" then surely 100% of cases would proceed to appeal.

Tbh, I don't think you understand the job of the CCRC any better than I do (which isn't much), which isn't what I hoped from your declaration that he stands a "pretty good" chance of not only being granted leave to appeal - which he has already had denied once - but actually winning that appeal.
