To back up a few steps

The penno wasn't Ruddy's fault - it was the 4 defenders who didn't flatten Anelka when he was still 15-20 yards in his own half. Someone had to nail him because the pass was so bloody obvious, and at that point there was only going to be one outcome.

That said, there was clearly at least 1 City defender (De Laet?) back covering. Penno, but definitely no red card. That was what they were all going spare at the referee about.
