if you replace the word

investment with gamble I think it is more realistic.

Buying Holt was not an investment, it was a gamble (albeit a calculated one) because that 28 yr-old footballer could have done his cruciate on the pre-season tour.

But our debt is now unhealthy, so should we continue to gamble?
