My old Sony SuperTriniton CRT TV does have a better SD picture than many modern HD TV's.
The reason being is that a lot of the modern TV's have poor upscalling of Standard Definition pictures, motion problems, poor viewing angles etc.
The new TV's look great with HD content but hardly any TV stations broadcast in HD, and blue-ray disks are a lot more expensive than DVD's.
The best I've seen so far is the Samsung LED 8 Series and the Panasonic V10 plasma but they still have major problems.
So I'm sticking with my old TV for a long as possible and I go the the cinema to see epic movies with great special effects.
