I genuinely have no idea what you mean by that. I certainly don;t think Grant or Roeder were shrinking violets.

And usally when people talk about managers challenging the board, they mean - "can a manager get money out of them?"

but I thought the consensus was that this board have spent too much on players, not too little. (Of course, as it turned out, s**t players, who were recommended by the managers in question. But that suggests the managers were too powerful, not too weak.)
