I don't think running with it as a headline story would shift more copies to be honest...

I think it's important to remember that this incident happened over two weeks ago now and was only picked up on earlier this week.

Given that the Mail (and everyone) went big on the Rhys Jones murder, I would have thought the natural headline story would be that a family member of the accused refused to testify...and this story would have definitely shifted copies. Instead they chose to go with the Brand/Ross story, with the only reason being (as far as I can tell) that they detest the BBC.
