I think rwlc was right about your Gfx card using some of your system RAM to use...

as it's own memory.

You could get a new Gfx card with onboard RAM, and de-activate the Gfx module you currently have on your Mobo using the system BIOS.

Or, you could just get another 256mb of RAM (if you've got another DDR Slot to use) and that should be enough to handle both system and Gfx RAM requirements.
