I think Reg's point is that

anyone studying our form this season might have noticed that we tend to do significantly better in the second half than the first. Thus, it wouldn't be unreasonable for the clued-in to take a speculative punt at HT even if we were losing. And, presumably, anyone taking their betting seriously on the Asian in-game markets (and particularly given the Asian handicap) would have studied the form.
