Personally the rot started when Scholes retired
3 darlings of club football then dominated and never really played well together, looked to be inseparable
If they were, the press, fans and their respective clubs barked like guard dogs until the formula was put back
England have never recovered from that, and have needed the very best to be in charge to dare handle the pressure of doing something the core won't like
