Is football that bad now though or are we just being like the generation before us and
before them being overly nostalgic about a time gone before. People yearn for the days of old as nostalgia does that too you but were they that great. Will the next generation in 20 years time talk about Ronaldo and Rooney and talk about them being proper players not like todays game.
But as society has changed football has changed, and you could put an argument together for both sides of, for the better or for the worse and neither would be wrong. However it does annoy me a little bit when people (and I'm not talking about you here) refuse to move with the times and pine on about a time long gone. Just like society, football moves on and we all have to follow, if we want to be a part of it.
We can't forget a time in history where because of terrace trouble we had no games in Europe, which in turn attracted very little interest from around the world especially when it came to attracting top talent from other countries. We also had horrible disasters such as Hillsboro' which I'm sure you'll agree is probably the biggest football tragedy in modern English history. Football has changed, probably faster than any sport out there and I love it, but maybe because I don't have that deep rooted family tradition of football, I haven't grown up with the romantic stories of yesteryear, the influence of what things used to be like and how money has ruined the game - I personally don't think it has but many people always argue with me that it has, I just think it's changed the game.
