Early Tech help required please

Couple of things if you have the time please.
Firstly - In their infinate wisdom a relation brought my son Microsoft Flight sim FSX and Flight Deck 5 add on - i've loaded them but they are painfully slow. Secondly the same relation gave my daughter a computer so she could play the Sims 2 and add ons - all Sims disc load but some colours of certain items are very wrong - IN EACH CASE DO I NEED TO UPGRADE MY GRAPHICS CARD ON BOTH COMPUTERS? IF SO HOW DO I DO THAT? signed a proper proper technophobe
