No, they're partly down to supply issues

and demand issues. Supply is possibly being artificially restricted by the OPEC countries, while demand is rocketing because of the industrialisation of places like India and China. And that's only to get worse. The supply will eventually run dry and as that gets nesrer the price will rocket even more. Out of town supermarkets will de deserted wastelands because no-one will be able to drive to them. People will work from home via internet/skype and automated login/clocked on type things, with web cams so that staff can be monitored.

You know it's all going to happen, just might not be until we're dead...
