the benefit of the new stands..
is that they increase capacity, which has 3 benefits:
1. it increases ticket revenue
2. it increases other revenue (refreshments etc)
3. It increases your future fanbase. If fans can't get to see matches in person and are restricted to watching football on TV they will support the teams they can see regularly on TV (i.e. the Big Four).
This last point is important. It is easy these days for non-Prem to lose young fans to the glamour teams. By enabling us to get these potential young fans into the Ground (cheap season tickets etc) we hopefully gain fans for life, so the long term benefits are potentially very large.
