House prices are a problem. Imagine my situation in Holland...

it IS different to the UK but what we have is tax relief on mortgages. This is about 40%. I have a mortgage of 380k euros and technically pay about almost 1700 a month, but I get just over 600 back.

They are now talking about taking the tax relief away. Can you imagine that ? I'd be stuck owning a house I simply could not sell (it's a 17th century 3 storey house but only 120 M2, with only 2 bedrooms and a roof terrace but no garden, and in the centre of Leiden). There is no way I would be able to sell my house for anywhere near the price I paid.
