So the practical question is whether enough people will start stealing stuff to actually affect what's produced.

Of course there's a moral question, too - is it OK to steal, on the assumption that enough other people won't to mean that the producer won't be badly affected? (Presumably it just means they put prices up a bit to all the people who still pay.)

Suspect I'll get slated for introducing the moral angle though.
