The Aussies have been struggling and basically just fighting to salvage their credibility for ages: all John Connolly was ever brought in for was damage limitation, rather like Brian Ashton actually.

I agree this will have taken a lot out of the French - but the truth is they're at least ten points better than us. Home advantage will do the rest: they're on a roll now, and have a real shot at going all the way. We, on the other hand, have at least shut the critics up, but I honestly don't believe there's enough left in the tank for anything more.
