I think it's too early to say
whether German football has really changed or whether it is the filter of our own perceptions through which we gaze upon this spectacle of teutonic kick and rush that has changed. So in a very real sense we need to know ourselves before we can truly KNOW German football or indeed any football english scottish welsh italian french yes german even austrian but not american because that's a whole different ballgame as our transatlantic cousins (once removed) would say in that curious drawl of theirs.
