No it isn't - it's a social forum, and there are certain norms for interaction

I'm not saying you have to talk to people on a messageboard exactly the same way you would down the pub, but just because the conversation is taking place via the Internet doesn't mean it isn't offensive or antagonistic to (say) patronise them, or disregard their opinion, or try and place yourself above them.

And Pants does comment on the amount of flak he takes on here, so I'm just trying to point out to how why I think that is, within the terms of the Internet interaction.
