the obvious way to do it is to using existing networks

try to create a buzz by 'infecting' as many nodes as possible. If you have a 'specialised' area then forums and things like that would be a good way to start.

the invite system is a good idea - google created a buzz by having people 'in the know' and making the core product unobtainable and therefore more desirable.

maybe you get some cool people on here and on other forums to try out the network.
