it's about networking, isn't it?
if understand you correctly, and you want to know how i stumbled upon Stumble-Upon, i heard about it from my brother who presumably found out about it from face-book or something.
I also read sites like boing-boing and lifehacker from time to time, and they often talk about new social networks etc.
