because the resource going into that "push"
at the time, can be functioned into something else
Getting a copper and five specials to stand in a point where they can catch people out, is a waste of police time
Specials aren't there to make as much money to the police as possible, they are there to voluntarily police the streets
Knowing that someone could be getting a kicking down an alleyway, or a disturbance is going unavoided, whilst a 6 members of the law are happilly targetting as many cyclists as possible to rack up as many ?30's as possible, is pretty sickening
Knowing that this operation could be going on for two months or so, is pretty dispickable behaviour by the police
So in that sense, the catch some real criminal argument is valid
I so wished I'd had my phone on video once. 2 lads got a random kicking unprovoked outside a nightclub, and cop car came down the street but was going to a seperate call out. Instead of stopping to sort out the matter that was live and at hand, he wound his window down and told the two lads all blooded and beaten (whilst the other six were still running off), that he had something more important to do, and drove off
That's what makes you angry, the fact that he thought he could drive away from a crime, or that he couldn't be bothered handling it cos there were 6 lads to sort out
Whatever his reasons, he chickened off and wouldn't deal with it, leaving the two lads victims of crime, and victims of police incompetence
But, set up a zone catching motorists turning right on a "no right turn" junction CA CHING!!!!!!!!!
