I think it's a little unfair to suggest Walker v1.0 was purely fortunate.

Snatching Robins under the noses of Dynamo Dresden was inspired, and Megson was a well-judged free signing too (although it was indirectly responsible for him later becoming manager, granted).

Some of the football we played under Walker was incandescent. FWIW I think Walker was a little unlucky the second time round - Roberts and Fleming were great signings, just not for him, and whilst he did sign some duds (Segura, Fuglestad, Kevin Scott etc) he was very unlucky with injuries as well - if Eadie and O'Neill had stayed fit we'd have had a pretty good side. Oh well ...
