Saw a bit about the trade show on BBC this morning. They were

going on about how in the future you will be able to purchase, download and listen to MP4s on the same device as your phone, synchronise it with your PC, watch TV on your device, view photos hosted on your home PC over the internet.

Confoosed me a bit, as all of that is already possible if you have a contract with Orange in the Netherlands. Given that we are technologically behind the UK, I'd imagine you can do it there too.

The REAL thing which will make or break the market is coverage. Before these things become commonplace, we will need at least HSDPA speed data coverage, or WiFi / WiMax with handover capability. Right now you can do all the above things. In Holland you can even watch free porn channels on your phone. But the coverage is unreliable and that's why it's not used more.
