To be fair...

...we didn't really waste Ashton that first half-season in the Prem, he almost kept us up and made his name (and his fortune) out of that run of games.

After that his heart wasn't in it really, and it would have taken a genius man-manager to coax effort out of him in those circumstances. Possibly the most abject thing I've ever seen on a football field was his lazy 'stretch' to get a ball going out for a goal kick at Plymouth and then immediately signalling to the bench that he was coming off. He'd basically given up by that stage and that's scandalous really.

I agree that with Earnie we're wasting him by surrounding him with such s**te, and frequently asking him to play up front on his tod. He's so gone in Jan.
