for what it's worth...

.....my guess would be that the players who stayed did have the salary cuts the first quote said - can't see they'd completely make that up - but what happened was that the players we brought in - Thorne, Earnie, Hooze particularly - were on mahoosive wages that made up for this.

Could be wrong though.
