... when I think of 19th century political history, I tend to think more of France - Napoleon III, the Franco-Prussian War and the Third Republic - that stuff is really interesting.

I didn't get funding for a PhD this summer for the second year in a row, and have decided to leave it and pursue freelance writing and journalism, which is going pretty well at the moment - just trying to stay sane while I do an incredibly tedious admin job to keep myself afloat!

As for your blog, why not alert the Pinkun? They'd probably give you a blogging space on there if you want it - in fact I think they're actively looking for new writers, and for certain they give space to far, far worse than yourself. Might be worth pursuing ...
