Incidentally, imagine if he actually DID. How on earth would we stop him leaving as soon as a bigger club inevitably came in for him? As I said, he's done his time in this league: why would he commit himself to a Championship club?

The fact that success for us under him would surely lead to him departing quickly anyway is actually a powerful argument AGAINST us appointing him (unless it was part of a short-term, horses for courses, "let's just get up before the parachute payments run out, and worry about the rest later" sort of strategy). But NCFC almost never think like that anyway - and as I said, it's all hypothetical. He won't be coming here.
